Candle Care
Follow these helpful steps to get the most out of your candles.
- Trimming the wick: Trim the wick about 1/4" before each use. Use a wick trimmer, scissors or even your fingers if you can do so safely. This prevents excessive flickering, soot and an uneven burn.
- Don't over burn your candle: Allow the candle to burn until melt pool reaches the edge of the jar, which usually takes 1 to 4 hours. Avoid burning for more than 4 hours at a time. This ensures an even burn, prevents tunneling and also makes sure that the jar doesn't overheat or cause fires.
- Keep away from drafts: Place your candle away from windows, vents, fans or open doors. Drafts can cause even burning, flickering, soot and worse case fires.
- Store your candle properly: Try to keep your candle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. This ensures your candle doesn't melt and disturb the melt pool.
- Monitor the candle while burning: Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep away from flammable materials and out of reach of children and pets.
- Repurpose: When your candle is finished, freeze the candle jar - this should get the wax to pop straight out and you can use the leftover wax in your melter. Your jar can be cleaned and reused for storage or decor.
